GENEGUT Coordinator Prof. Caitriona O’Driscoll was invited to deliver a plenary lecture at the ICBTM Conference, held in Debrecen, Hungary, on 25 June 2026.
Her lecture, titled “Cyclodextrin Nanoparticles: Advancing RNA Medicines for Chronic Diseases”, focused on the potential of cyclodextrin-based nanoparticles for the development of RNA medicines. As part of the presentation, Prof. O’Driscoll highlighted the RNA-based research ongoing in GENEGUT for the treatment of ileal Crohn’s disease as an example of a chronic disease where advanced delivery technologies may help address unmet medical needs.
GENEGUT is developing a first-in-class oral RNA-based therapy for ileal Crohn’s disease, combining novel biomaterials, nanoparticle formulation and targeted oral delivery to support local treatment of inflamed intestinal tissue.
The presentation provided an opportunity to share GENEGUT’s scientific approach with the international conference audience and to increase visibility for the project’s work on RNA delivery technologies and chronic inflammatory diseases.
