Professor Caitriona O’Driscoll, Coordinator of the GENEGUT project, was invited to deliver a masterclass at the 2nd Bicyclos International School and Workshop “Cyclodextrins in Health and Disease”, held at the Institute for Chemical Research (IIQ-CSIC), University of Seville, Spain, from 18–20 February 2026.
Her masterclass, titled “Cyclodextrins in Gene Silencing,” focused on the use of modified cyclodextrins as non-toxic, versatile biomaterials for the formulation of bespoke nanoparticles enabling targeted, non-viral delivery of therapeutic RNA.
The Bicyclos workshop, organised by IIQ-CSIC and the University of Seville, brought together international experts from academia and industry to explore the broad applications of cyclodextrins in healthcare and beyond. The programme included invited seminars covering healthcare applications, as well as sessions on artificial intelligence in molecular design, intellectual property protection, and science communication.
Professor O’Driscoll’s invitation as an invited speaker reflects the growing international recognition of her research leadership in advanced drug delivery systems and RNA therapeutics. Her expertise in cyclodextrin-based delivery platforms directly aligns with the translational ambitions of GENEGUT, which aims to advance innovative oral RNA delivery strategies.
Through participation in high-level international events such as Bicyclos 2026, GENEGUT continues to strengthen its scientific visibility and engagement within the global drug delivery and RNA therapeutics community.
