Horizon Europe EFCCA Academy: Diving into the future of IBD Therapies

Our GENEGUT partners from EFCCA have launched a new online training initiative: Horizon Europe EFCCA Academy: Diving into the future of IBD Therapies.

This new learning programme offers a unique opportunity to connect EFCCA members and IBD patients with the latest research and developments taking place within Horizon Europe projects where EFCCA plays an active role.

Through a series of interactive and easy-to-follow modules, participants will gain insights into scientific advances, patient-driven innovation and practical strategies that aim to improve the quality of life of people living with IBD. The programme is open to all EFCCA member associations, with no restrictions on the number of participants.

The Academy is designed for people living with IBD (aged 18+), who are involved in the EFCCA community as volunteers, members or staff. To make the most of this learning journey, participants should have a good command of English, be familiar with EFCCA’s mission and be committed to active engagement in advocacy and awareness activities.

The programme will consist of a series of independent modules, each focusing on a specific Horizon Europe project. Once registered, participants will receive notifications each time a new module is published on the platform, ensuring they remain up to date with the latest research and breakthroughs in IBD care.

Module 1 – GENEGUT: Basics of Advanced Therapies and RNA-based Medicines

The first module of the course, “GENEGUT: Basics of Advanced Therapies and RNA-based Medicines as used in the GENEGUT Research & Innovation Project”, has been developed in collaboration with the GENEGUT project. The module features a 19-minute video presentation by Prof. Caitriona M. O’Driscoll, the project’s Coordinator.

Participants will learn about the development of an innovative, orally administered RNA-based therapy designed to offer a non-invasive, safe and effective treatment for IBD. This pioneering approach represents a first-in-class solution that has the potential to significantly transform how IBD is treated.
