GENEGUT Cluster Event to bring together research, policy and patient perspectives on RNA therapeutics for inflammatory bowel disease

On 24 June 2026, the GENEGUT project will host its Cluster Event: Advancing RNA Therapeutics for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, bringing together representatives of Horizon Europe projects, research organisations, industry, policy and patient communities to discuss the future of RNA-based therapies for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

The event has been designed as an interactive forum to foster exchange between complementary EU-funded projects, explore scientific and translational challenges in RNA therapeutics, strengthen connections between research, policy and patient communities and identify pathways to maximise the impact of European research and innovation investments.

Alongside GENEGUT, the event will feature contributions from the Horizon Europe projects FIBROTARGET and miGut-Health, creating an opportunity to discuss complementary approaches to understanding and treating inflammatory bowel disease. The participating projects collectively address molecular disease mechanisms, innovative therapeutic approaches, translational research and patient-centred outcomes.

Patient and policy perspectives will form an important part of the dialogue, with contributions from organisations representing people living with inflammatory bowel disease as well as stakeholders involved in healthcare policy and regulation. Participating organisations include the International Federation of Crohn’s & Ulcerative Colitis Associations (IFCCA) and Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland (CCI), reflecting the event’s commitment to ensuring that research developments remain aligned with patient needs and societal priorities.

Also, we have prepared a virtual exhibition space for you to explore materials from GENEGUT, FIBROTARGET, Mi-GUT Health, IFCCA and CCI. Explore project posters and videos showcasing the latest developments in IBD research, RNA therapeutics and patient advocacy.

The GENEGUT Cluster Event demonstrates the value of collaboration across research projects and stakeholder communities in accelerating the development of innovative therapies. By connecting scientific excellence with policy and patient perspectives, the event aims to contribute to a stronger European ecosystem for the development and future uptake of RNA-based treatments for IBD.

As a closed stakeholder event, participation is by invitation only. A summary of the discussions and key outcomes will be shared through the GENEGUT communication channels following the event.
