GENEGUT successfully showcases oral RNA delivery research at PBP World Meeting 2026 in Prague

GENEGUT was strongly represented at the 15th World Meeting on Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology (PBP World Meeting 2026), held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 23 to 26 March 2026. The event brought together leading experts from academia, industry and regulatory bodies to discuss advances in drug delivery, formulation and pharmaceutical technologies.

Showcasing GENEGUT research across oral and nucleic acid delivery

GENEGUT researchers presented their latest work across multiple sessions, highlighting the project’s integrated approach to developing innovative RNA-based therapies for ileal Crohn’s disease.

Short oral presentations

GENEGUT contributed with three short talks:

  • Silvia Melgar, presenting work led by Aman Saifi, on “Targeted delivery of RNA-based therapeutics to the gut to modulate the JAK-STAT pathway in Crohn’s Disease”
  • Elisa Millet, presenting on “Site-specific oral delivery system to target the end of the ileum: from capsule design to biorelevant evaluation”
  • Miguel Ramôa, presenting on “Evaluation of Polymeric Nanoparticles for Intestinal Delivery of RNA for the Treatment of Ileal Crohn’s Disease”

Poster presentations

GENEGUT research was further showcased through five posters:

  • Ana Francisca Soares“Influence of PEGylation on Intestinal Transfection by Cyclodextrin-Based Nanoparticles”
  • Sophia Hoffmann“Functional RNA Nanoparticles for Oral Delivery: Stability Following Lyophilisation”
  • Klara Martinović Mušić (presented by Silvia Melgar)“In vitro evaluation of Adrenomedullin as a Target for Oral RNA-based Therapy for Ileal Crohn’s Disease”
  • Bruno Sarmento, Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S)
  • Dinh Son Vo, Uppsala University

Advancing oral RNA therapeutics for Crohn’s disease

Together, these contributions reflect GENEGUT’s multidisciplinary strategy, spanning nanoparticle design, formulation stability, targeted delivery systems and therapeutic validation. The presentations demonstrate progress from early-stage formulation development to advanced delivery concepts aimed at clinical translation.

By contributing to key sessions at PBP 2026, GENEGUT continues to strengthen its scientific visibility and engagement within the international drug delivery and RNA therapeutics community. GENEGUT will continue to share insights and outcomes from its research activities, contributing to the development of next-generation oral RNA therapeutics for inflammatory bowel diseases.
